As far as classic, picturesque weddings go, this one from the weekend at Millwards House Estate in Laughton is just about as idyllic as you could imagine. The Hog Roast Laughton had the pleasure of coming to this standout out venue to cater for a day that really emphasised the special in ‘special day’.
The day began with a ceremony looking out to the 150 acres of beautiful meadowland and woodland with a serene lake adding to the magical feel of the place and moment. What an exceptional place then to set up our own marquee cooking tent to whip up a menu as equally as special as the environment. With Hog Roast Laughton, nothing ever comes as ‘standard’ as we instead prefer to go for more unique options in our dining, or at the very least put a unique twist on something that might be otherwise seen as standard. In this case, it was our gourmet twist on the classic British barbecue that added even more novelty and specialness into what was already a magical day. We had the grounds to work our magic and set up a serving tent for all 70 guests to come on over to and grab gourmet burgers with fried onions and cheese, gourmet sausages, Thai spiced chicken kebabs, grilled veg and halloumi skewers, and veggie burgers and sausages. Guests could also help themselves to our freshly prepared regular and sweet potato fries, and add even more flavour to their plate with our creamy gourmet slaw and our mixed leave salad.
With so much on offer, it was fortunate that those waiting their turn at least had a view of the lake and meadowland to enjoy to go along with the incredible aromas emanating from our serving table. Both together would have anyone desperate enough to come back in for seconds and even thirds — which many did after enjoying their first stint at the Hog Roast Laughton serving table!
