For most people across the UK, November is just another month to get through before the festive season begins. But for our friends across the pond, it’s another excellent excuse for merrymaking! Every year, on the last Thursday of the month, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving, which many believe has been a tradition for over four centuries.
With that said, it’s safe to say that Thanksgiving is a huge part of American culture, and as a result, marking the occasion is important – even if they’re more than 4,000 miles from home like Nicole!
Nicole moved to the UK from the States in 2019 after being offered a transfer by her company, and so far, she loves it here, but one thing she misses is the thrill of Thanksgiving. So, now that celebrations are able to go ahead properly again, she decided to make a big deal of the holiday this year by hosting a Thanksgiving feast for all of her newfound friends here in Sussex!
Nicole invited 20 people to join her in commemorating the holiday, and, to save herself the hassle of cooking for all of them, she had hired Hog Roast Ashington to serve our Festive Menu! Our catering manager, Adam, was so excited to be included in this event and promised the client a phenomenal feast.
To deliver on that promise, Hog Roast Ashington arrived at the client’s home a handful of hours before the guests did, and Nicole was impressed when Adam managed to set up all of the catering equipment, given the limited space outdoors.
Hog Roast Ashington spent the next several hours lovingly preparing an aromatic spread, which centred around a whole-roasted free-range turkey. By the time the guests had begun to arrive, the meat was tender, succulent and full of flavour, so Adam pulled out the carving knives and began slicing up the meat.
Along with the beautifully-cooked turkey meat, guests were given sage and onion stuffing, fresh-made cranberry sauce and a range of sides, including cauliflower cheese, a medley of seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes.
Nicole was thrilled with the results and she and her guests had an excellent time celebrating Thanksgiving while munching their way through the gorgeous food Hog Roast Ashington had prepared!
