We always say here at Hog Roast Pulborough that the summer is wedding season. Any event caterer will tell you the same. They’ll also, however, tell you that the summer is barbecue season. Anyone in the UK will probably tell you that, as the sun comes out the excitement for a barbecue arrives instantly.
So, then, what if you had a bank holiday weekend, record setting temperatures, and a wedding to enjoy? Well, if it’s wedding season and barbecue season in one go, then why not have the two join together for one perfect event dining experience at Hog Roast Pulborough!
This brilliant combo was brought to life by head chef Marco this past week, as we catered out in the sun for an incredible wedding reception. A modest occasion with a about 80 guests in attendance, it was time for some fun in the sun following an incredible wedding ceremony. To kick things off, the Hog Roast Pulborough team brought out the roaster and set it up for barbecuing. Yes, our own-designed roasting machines – which we use for every one of our hog roasts – can also double as a grill and barbecue, sometimes even simultaneous with a pork roast cooking underneath. This grants us the flexibility to switch things up on the fly and the power to also barbecue a tonne of gourmet burgers, sausages, ribs, kebabs, skewers, all at once, as the size of our roasters and the heat they carry allows us to cook plenty in one go.
That means not long to wait for all 80 guests to be served continuously. Each guest had options of our handmade beef burgers, butcher’s sausages, Thai chicken kebabs, BBQ marinated spare ribs, veggie burgers and sausages, grilled veg and halloumi skewers, fried onions and cheese, and refreshing side accompaniments of seasonal leafy greens, Greek salad, creamy slaw, Marco’s own pasta salad, herb dressed new potatoes, and regular fries. With the sun staying out after the weekend’s heatwave, this was a perfect dinner for the wedding.
To finish things off, the Hog Roast Pulborough team later presented and cut up the wedding cake along with additional cake options provided by the bride and groom, before cleaning up and heading out to leave the party to it!
