We had some very unexpected snow last Saturday while we were catering for a wedding in Horam. The wedding catering was booked by the couple but was really Michael’s choice. Surprisingly at this event, Sarah was a very laid back bride! Michael is a farmer and from the get go he knew he wanted a hog roast at his wedding, he did have a special request to provide his own meat which we didn’t have a problem with.
We arrived at the venue extra early so that we could prep the meat and start roasting with plenty of time left to prep our sides and salads for the couple and their guests. I had chosen 3 of my speciality salads to accompany the pig and lamb that Michael had provided and we also had a choice of new potatoes or potato wedges, both seasoned with our special Hog Roast Horam flavourings. In the background we also had the dessert served onto individual plates for the guests to choose, either sticky toffee pudding or chocolate torte, 2 fantastic options!
The room as decorated beautifully in the coral colour scheme and once we were inside and all the guests had settled at their tables you wouldn’t have even know what weather they had faced to arrive on time. There were some lovely glass doors that in the summer are perfect to lead out onto the balcony to see the views surrounding the fantastic venue. We have previously done a few summer weddings at this venue and it really is a fantastic location in Horam with stunning scenery, it was a shame that the couple and the guests couldn’t take some photos of the scenery, however a winter wonderland wedding is rare and sometimes just as beautiful when looking out to the crisp freshly laid snow.
As we lifted our pig out of the machine it’s the usual sign for guests to start forming a que, and didn’t they come fast! Nothing was stopping them getting their lovely, warm hog roast Horam sandwich with some delicious accompaniments. The meat that Michael had provided was just as good quality as our own free range pigs and the meat was so tender and just fell of the bone, we did have to give him some credit on the night, and he did point it out in his speech!
We had chance to hear all the speeches while we were clearing away and by 11pm we were heading off home while the guests and the special couple enjoyed the rest of the special day.
