It’s a long working life, but it is worth it all when we finally get to retire and enjoy a celebration amongst our co-workers and friends. To mark such a momentous occasion it always pays to go out with a grand dinner, or even a party with a catered buffet or menu. At Hog Roast Storrington we regularly provide catering for retirement parties, and this last week was no different as we helped to usher in a new era for Graham who celebrated an end to 28 years at his company and an early retirement at the ripe age of 61.
Graham and Hog Roast Storrington have been acquainted before. Being an independent business owner, Graham has called upon our corporate catering services before to facilitate large scale event dining and staff lunches for his stationary supply company. When he called a few months ago we naturally assumed it was for another one of those events, so it was a surprise when he actually put in a special request to have catering for his own retirement party. Of course we said yes. It has been great working alongside Graham in even the small instances that we have, so it would be a privilege to help celebrate his working life the right way.
For the retirement party the whole business employ was invited along with their plus 1’s and Graham’s own family and close friends. That amounted to around 70 guests to cater for, and to mark the occasion Graham wanted to have a sit-down meal along with some speeches. We therefore chose our formal hog roast dining experience, meaning dining began with a choice of our roast breast of Gressingham duck, Scottish smoked salmon, or heritage tomato and beetroot carpaccio. Afterwards came our roast main with choices of the classic hog roast or a beef roast with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and traditional accompaniments for each of the roasts (i.e. stuffing and apple sauce for the pork, Yorkshire pudding and gravy for the beef).
After dinner Graham’s office surprised him with a gift watch and his new replacement gave a speech to thank Graham for all he has done over the years for each and every person in the room.
It was an excellent occasion, and Hog Roast Storrington would also just like to throw in our well wishes for Graham’s retirement.
