Nothing says summer quite like an outdoor music festival, and here in the UK, we go wild for open-air concerts! Because what’s not to love about them? The fashion, the beats, the electric atmosphere, and oh, the food—yes, music festivals are a blast!
So, when Hog Roast Lowfield Heath caught wind of an open-air festival nearby, we were over the moon. And, our excitement went into overdrive when the hosts invited us to serve our Classic Hog Roast Menu to the lively crowd!
This festival was unlike any other. For starters, it was a not-for-profit bash aimed at celebrating creativity and a shared love of music within the community. The weekend-long extravaganza kicked off on Friday night and rocked through to Sunday last week, featuring over 100 unique acts. From fresh new bands and solo artists to DJs spinning the decks, there was something for everyone. Many guests snagged day tickets, but loads took full advantage of the on-site camping, maximising their festival experience.
But the fun didn’t stop at the music. There were endless activities for attendees, young and old. There was a Viking living history exhibit with live combat displays, a baby and toddler rave (yes, seriously!), axe throwing, circus lessons, storytelling, Tai Chi, and yoga classes. Though it was billed as a mini music festival, the turnout was anything but small—around 3,500 people each day! This meant the Hog Roast Lowfield Heath team had our work cut out for us, keeping the food flowing for all those hungry festival-goers.
We were just one of several fantastic on-site caterers over the weekend. While others dished out oven-baked pizzas from converted horse boxes, homemade samosas, burritos, and mouth-watering Greek gyros, our crew wowed the crowds with our sensational spit roast! We slow-cooked free-range pigs over real flames for hours, creating a culinary spectacle that no one could resist. The meat, rich, golden, and glistening with juices, was a feast for the eyes. And the flavours? Out of this world! Tender pulled pork with rich savoury notes, crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, and a hint of sweetness from applesauce—pure bliss!
Hog Roast Lowfield Heath’s food was a massive hit with festival-goers of all ages and we had an absolute blast, meeting so many fascinating people and sharing our delicious food with them. Here’s to more events like this in our future!
