Hog Roast Newhaven’s First-Ever Sten Do!

Saturday was an exciting day for the Hog Roast Newhaven team because we had been invited along to our first ever sten do! What is a sten do I hear you ask? Basically, it’s a joint stag and hen party, where both the bride and groom come together to combine their pre-marital celebrations for one unforgettable night of fun! This new-ish trend is quickly gaining in popularity. So much so in fact, that it is replacing the traditional ”last night of freedom” that couples have before they embark on the next chapter in their lives together, as it’s the ideal option for those with shared friendship circles.

Since first getting engaged last year, Sian and Cameron knew they wanted to have their very own sten party, and a few weeks before the event, they agreed on having a hog roast spread. Since no one knows their way around a spit roast better than the Hog Roast Newhaven catering crew, the couple got in touch with us to place a booking forHog Roast Uckfield our private party menu 3 which features a combination of refreshing side salads and potato dishes to complement the authentic hog roast centrepiece. As well as this, the pair had asked us to include our famous meat-free alternative of grilled vegetable skewers with optional chunks of Greek halloumi cheese, tzatziki dip and flatbreads for the handful of vegetarian and vegan guests who had been invited to the celebrations.

Saturday was an excellent day for a garden party, and with the sun beating down on them, Hog Roast Newhaven quickly began prepping the medium-sized pig by scoring the skin evenly and rubbing it down with salt (this is our secret to perfectly crispy crackling!) before leaving it to rest in a bed of savoury stuffing for several hours over a low flame. Next up, the catering team tossed the colourful salads and served them in our eco-friendly wooden bowls alongside piping hot new potatoes in herb butter, gluten-free rolls and wraps and mixed fries.

By 6 pm the party was well underway, but even with all the dancing, laughter and excitement taking up the focus of the guests, no one could keep away from the hog roast spread for too long!
